About the workshop

Investigate, develop and expand your knowledge of water colour and water based media. Wayne will help you to capture light and atmosphere, starting from direct observation. Although draughtsmanship is fundamental, the aim is not to produce a topographical statement but rather to capture an emotive sense of place. Using what you learn and observation, composition and dynamic mark making, you will move towards responding in a free and intuitive way.

About Wayne

Having graduated from art school in art and design, Wayne found success painting large historical works, a number of which were committed for heritage buildings in in England. He was also active in commercial art, illustration and design, culminating in becoming Creative Director of a national advertising and marketing agency. In 2004 he left the UK to sail with his wife across the Atlantic and around the Mediterranean, rediscovering his passion for painting. He spent an extended period in Malta, producing and exhibiting a body of work. Returning to the UK in 2011, he currently splits his time between painting and teaching in central England and the Mediterranean. He is an elected member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and his work is represented in private and public collections across Europe.
