About the workshop

Working in the landscape and in the studio, Terry will encourage you to develop your own interpretations of your chosen subject. Emphasis is placed on helping you extend your horizons in both the treatment of the subject and in the media used; experimentation and innovation being the keys. Using what you see around you as raw material you will be making images using drawing media and water-based paints (watercolour, gouache, or acrylic). Terry will encourage you to examine the key elements of picture making with the aim of moving towards a more abstract reading of the landscape

About Terry

Terry Thompson though American, lives and works in Amsterdam. He was a professional musician before switching to the visual arts. Trained in graphic art, he began exhibiting in 1986. He has accrued an impressive list of one-man shows and selected group exhibitions mostly in the United States and the Netherlands. His most recent exhibitions include Galerie Clement in Amsterdam, the Lacoste School of Art in France and 'Grafiek Nu' at the Singer Museum in Laren, the Netherlands. He recently curated an exhibition of contemporary Dutch drawing, exhibits at Galerie Bergade (Rotterdam),and in 2009 published a book of his work entitled ‘To the Hand’ with the help of the Pollock-KrasnerFoundation. He has recently published an artists book 'Remains'.
